Decision of the Accreditation Council:
The Accreditation Council evaluates positively the organization and the environment for conducting distance learning form of education at the University of Economics – Varna.



In recent years, UE-Varna has purposefully invested and succeded in creating a modern state-of-the-art high-tech academic environment. Based on these results, the Strategy for Development of UE-Varna would focuses the efforts of its entire academic community towards the highest achievements in teaching methodology and techniques, educational processes and scientific research.

The Strategy is a carefully rationalized answer of UE-Varna academic community to the current unfavorable demographic environment and the ever-changing competition of the education market in regional and global aspects. On the other hand, the Strategy is a reply to the 'opening' of high potential markets towards the European education area such as CIS, China, the Middle East, Africa and others.

The Strategy aims to continue the process of affirmation of UE-Varna as a modern, dynamic and international higher education and scientific research institution, an integral part of the national and European systems of higher education, meeting the needs of its students, the economy and society as a whole in the conditions of a strong competition and global positioning at the education market. The Strategy is developed towards the sustainability and future development of UE-Varna in the short and long term.

The Strategy outlines the main values and principles, strategic areas, goals and priorities of the development of UE-Varna as well as points out specific measures for its implementation. It serves as a common framework for future decisions related to the distribution and use of resources as time, efforts, know-how and means.

The Strategy is in accordance with the legislation acts of the Republic of Bulgaria related to higher education and academic community as well as with the National Strategy for Development of Scientific Research 2020, the National Innovation Strategy and Resources for Its Implementation, Europe 2020 and others.

The life span of the Strategy is the time period 2015-2020. The Strategy is set out to answer four main questions and, consequently, to solve the following tasks:

  • Who are we as an academic community (what constitutes UE-Varna as an institution)?
  • What are we striving for, what would we like to become and how does society perceive us?
  • How can we achieve what we are aiming at (what is the roadmap to our success)?
  • How to evaluate the achieved results?

The successful implementation of the Strategy is related to the mutual work and efforts of the following communities:

  • academic and administrative staff of UE-Varna;
  • udergraduate, graduate and doctoral students of UE-Varna;
  • prospective domestic and international students;
  • parents and relatives of current and prospective students;
  • UE-Varna alumni;
  • secondary schools;
  • domestic and international educational institutions interested in scholastic and/or scientific research partnership with UE-Varna;
  • local, regional and national communities;
  • employers, business representatives and public administration staff;
  • significant public figures;
  • representatives of the national, regional and local administration;
  • financial institutions interested in bettering the quality of higher education and science.

The values and principles upheld during the implementation of the Strategy are: knowledge, innovation and creativity, freedom of speech and expression, self-sufficience and critical thinking, equality, honesty and integrity, objectivity and impartiality, transparency, responsibility, competence, adaptability, exchange of good practices and the active involvement of all students, faculty members and administrative staff of UE-Varna.
